As seen on BBC's Make! Craft Britain and Channel 4's Kirstie's Handmade Christmas. Fold your way to zen calm and happiness - featuring tear-out origami pages to get you started!Origami has been shown to aid relaxation, concentration, hand eye co-ordination and memory, and what's more, it does not require complicated tools or materials to perform. All you need is a piece of paper and some focused thought, and the results can be enjoyed almost immediately. In this beautifully designed book, with clear step-by-step instructions, you will learn how to make 16 inspirational models that you can display on your desk, your windowsill, or your mantelpiece, or give to somebody as a gift. Every day millions of us sit in front of a computer screen tapping away at a keyboard and don't create anything real. Undertaking an origami project is a chance to get creative and make something tangible; turning a piece of paper into a 3D sculpture is a meditative journey that instils in us a sense of pride, competence and accomplishment. As we slow down and start to fold paper, which is so beautifully tactile, so we start to unfold our minds. Worries and troubles float away as we follow the instructions and start to fold, fully focused on the task at hand, able to mindfully contemplate our intentions, hopes and dreams. Why not sit with a friend or a child and fold together? Like colouring in, origami is a wonderful shared pursuit - as you get into it and find 'flow', time is suspended and as you discover the art of origami, so you start to lead a more authentic, simple and calmer life.

Pattern

Emma Bridgewater

Emma Bridgewater

'No one understands pattern and design quite like Emma. This gem of a book celebrates her passion for British ceramics, her beautiful design and joyful patterns.' Kirstie AllsoppCreativity, collaboration, inspirationEmma Bridgewater's patterns are as quintessentially British as marmalade on toast - and they have made her distinctive homewares best sellers across the world. Her inspiration is often deeply personal - a plate of her mother's, a favourite children's book - and as she tells the stories of each pattern's creation, she reveals the intricate processes of research and collaboration behind the familiar designs she has stamped on our kitchenware - and our hearts - for the past thirty years. Each pattern comes with a 'serving suggestion': a favourite recipe from Emma's family cookbook that will look deliciously at home on your Polka Dot plate or in your Dancing Mouse bowl. And collectors and students of design will revel in the complete, illustrated Emma Bridgewater Pattern Index. Both an entrancing trip down memory lane and a behind-the-scenes look at a thriving creative business, Emma Bridgewater's PATTERN is essential reading for anyone who has ever turned over their mug after draining their tea and wondered about the human story behind that proud declaration: Made in Stoke-on-Trent, England...

Willie's Chocolate Factory Cookbook

Willie Harcourt-Cooze
Authors:
Willie Harcourt-Cooze

An eccentric entrepreneur with a mission to educate the British public into the delights of top quality chocolate, Willie Harcourt-Cooze, star of the Channel 4 series Raising the Bar, shows how to use the ultimate luxury ingredient in a collection of over 60 mouth-watering recipes. In the first half of Willie's Chocolate Factory Cookbook, Willie tells the extraordinary story behind his dream to produce the very best chocolate in the world. Twelve years ago, he and his wife Tania sold everything they had to buy a cacao farm in the Cloud Mountains of Venezuela. Their chocolate dream took the family to near bankruptcy, and from the wilds of Venezuela, where Willie learnt how to be a cacao farmer, to the rolling hills of Devon, where he built a small chocolate factory and now makes his 100% cacao bars. We're conditioned to think that chocolate is a confectionary, when in actual fact the real thing is the most wondrous, versatile ingredient. Willie's recipes show how 100% cacao can enrich an astonishing range of dishes, from Tiramisu and Venezuelan Hot Chocolate to Chicken Mole and Porcini Risotto. Like salt, just a small amount can strengthen or bring out the flavours in food, or simply add depth and richness and body. With stunning photography and fantastic, easy-to-follow recipes (including those from his Channel 4 programmes), Willie's Chocolate Factory Cookbook is perfect inspiration for all food-lovers. The chocolate revolution starts here...
