  • £P.O.R.

The continued adventures of the rescue dog that inspired the world - the sequel to the international bestseller, ARTHUR

'A shaggy dog story with a lovely happy ending' - BBC Breakfast on Arthur

THE SEQUEL TO THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER ARTHUR

Three years ago, Mikael Lindnord met a scruffy, plucky stray dog on an adventure race in Ecuador. Despite illness and injury the dog followed Mikael for hundreds of miles, and eventually he took him home to Sweden to be part of the family. He named him Arthur.

Arthur & Friends is the story of what happened next, from Arthur's first Christmas, to book tours to London and around Europe, to a terrifying bout of illness and new races and adventures. Interspersed with this are heart-warming readers' stories of their own rescue dogs, from Afghanistan to Australia, and everywhere in between.

Uplifting, gripping and moving in equal measure, Arthur & Friends is the inspirational story of how a little kindness can go a very, very long way.

Biographical Notes

Mikael Lindnord (Author)
Mikael Lindnord is an adventure racer and race planner. As a boy he wanted to be an ice hockey player, but failing to make a professional team at the age of 17 set him on a different path. After doing military service he became an adventure racer and has been travelling the world and racing in the AR World Series ever since. When not racing he lives with his wife, children and, of course, his dog Arthur.

Arthur is a mongrel from somewhere in Ecuador. He likes meatballs, long runs with Mikael and relaxing with his family in Sweden.

As an editor of non-fiction at major publishing houses, Val Hudson published many ground-breaking bestsellers. Now a full-time writer, she is the author of a wide range of non-fiction and, as Chloe Bennet, the 'Boywatching' series of novels for young teens..

THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLERWINNER OF THE 2016 EUROPEAN UNION PRIZE FOR LITERATURE'Dazzling' John IrvingI've known Death a long time but now Death knows me.When their idyllic childhood is shattered by the sudden death of their parents, siblings Marty, Liz and Jules are sent to a bleak state boarding school. Once there, the orphans' lives change tracks: Marty throws himself into academic life; Liz is drawn to dark forms of escapism; and Jules transforms from a vivacious child to a withdrawn teenager. I began to be afraid of the dark, afraid of death, afraid of eternity. I was alone. And then I met Alva. The only one who can bring him out of his shell is his mysterious classmate Alva, who hides a dark past of her own, but despite their obvious love for one another, the two leave school on separate paths. Our last meeting suddenly felt like yesterday again, except that yesterday was many years ago. Years later, just as it seems that they can make amends for time wasted, the past catches up with them, and fate - or chance - will once again alter the course of a life. Told through the fractured lives of the siblings, The End of Loneliness is a heartfelt, enriching novel about loss and loneliness, family and love.'A superbly insightful story' BookRiot

Eastern Horizons

Levison Wood
Authors:
Levison Wood

BY THE AUTHOR OF WALKING THE HIMALAYAS, WINNER OF THE 2016 EDWARD STANFORD ADVENTURE TRAVEL BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARDLevison Wood was only 22 when he decided to hitch-hike from England to India through Russia, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, but he wasn't the conventional follower of the hippy trail. A fascination with the deeds of the early explorers, a history degree in the bag, an army career already planned and a shoestring budget of £750 - including for the flight home - he was determined to find out more about the countries of the Caucasus and beyond - and meet the people who lived and worked there.EASTERN HORIZONS is a true traveller's tale in the tradition of the best of the genre, populated by a cast of eccentric characters; from mujahideen fighters to the Russian mafia. Along the way he meets some people who showed great hospitality, while others would rather have murdered him...This book confirms that Levison Wood, Winner of the 2016 Edward Stanford Adventure Travel Book Of The Year Award, has indeed 'breathed new life into adventure travel ' (Michael Palin)

Rio Ferdinand

'Nothing can ever ease the pain of the death of someone you love, nothing can magic it away. But if I can help anyone else facing what we have gone through, of what we're still going through, by sharing what I've learnt, our loss won't feel completely meaningless.'The courageous and moving story of former England and Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand's sudden and tragic loss of his wife Rebecca to cancer. Written to help others through their grief, he shares, openly and honestly, the hard journey he's on with his three young children and the support and advice that's getting them through. In 2015, former England football star Rio Ferdinand suddenly and tragically lost his wife and soulmate Rebecca, aged 34, to cancer. It was a profound shock and Rio found himself struggling to cope not just with the pain of his grief, but also with his new role as both mum and dad to their three young children. Rio's BBC1 documentary, Being Mum and Dad, touched everyone who watched it and won huge praise for the honesty and bravery he showed in talking about his emotions and experiences. His book now shares the story of meeting, marrying and losing Rebecca, his own and the family's grief - as well as the advice and support that get him through each day as they strive to piece themselves back together. It is written in the hope that he can inspire others struggling with loss and grief to find the help they need through this most difficult of times.(P)2017 Hodder & Stoughton Limited
