A former Operational Station Officer in the London Fire Brigade, Pat O'Keeffe is also the holder of a 5th degree black belt in Karate and has fought 28 times as a kick-boxer.

He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and currently teaches on the faculty of creative writing at Dartmouth College.
