When the British government needs to make an enemy disappear, Jay is the man they call on. He doesn't ask questions, because he doesn't want to know the answers. Jay is a contract killer and for him the rules of the game are simple - kill or be killed. His latest contract will not only require him to push his SAS training to its limit, but also put to the test the patriotism and sense of duty that set him on the path to becoming a cold blooded killer-for hire. A classic thriller from the creator of Z-Cars and Softly, Softly.

One away...' is the traditional cry of warders on Dartmoor. Tam Bass heard it as he lay in the grass. To carry out the intricate plan for his escape Tam had to run - and run to a pre-arranged rendevous on the other side of the moor. But as his brothers Ruben and Peter flashed past the meeting point on their motorbikes, there were already signs that something was wrong - that the Bass brothers had started a dreadful chain of events that they were now powerless to stop...

Bermuda, 1972. The island is a paradise of sea, sand and sub-tropical flowers in abundance under a blazing sun. To Abbott, the money-man, it offers a haven of rest and peace, an idyllic setting for his passionate affair with the golden-skinned Angel. To Angel da Sousa it is merely a stepping stone towards her dream of becoming a star. But beneath this tranquil facade, dangerous undercurrents are stirring. Some see Bermuda as a political symbol, the farthest flung colony of the British Empire, and they threaten to shatter the peace and prosperity of the island paradise. For Abbot and Angel these undercurrents prove treacherous indeed.

Ralph Ernest Gorse, the suave but utterly heartless anti-hero of Patrick Hamilton's classic The West Pier, is here revisited by Z-Cars creator Allan Prior in the novelisation of his acclaimed 1987 television serial of the same name. In the late 1930s, the womanising Gorse insinuates himself into the life of a widow who falls head-over-heels for him. Donald Stimpson, the widow's would-be suitor, vengefully pursues Gorse when the unrepentant conman relieves her of a considerable portion of her wealth, but Gorse will stop at nothing to evade his enemy.
