Lynda Bellingham’s memoir is the Number One Bestseller for a third week as sales reach 150, 000
Lynda Bellingham’s memoir, There’s Something I’ve Been Dying to Tell You, is a runaway number one bestseller. It has been confirmed today that it will top the adult bestseller lists for a third week with sales in all formats of over 150,000 copies – making it a strong contender to be the bestselling book this Christmas.
Lynda's widower Michael Pattemore said: "The response to the book has meant so much to us. Lynda would be over the moon – and especially at all the news we are getting about how what she has said has helped so many people. For the boys and me, that’s the best-ever memorial we can have for her.“
Richard Humphreys, Waterstones Non Fiction Buyer said: “Lynda Bellingham is currently our bestselling autobiography. We expect to see an increase in sales right through to Christmas as more people want to read her honest, funny and courageous memoir”.
Written and published in her final months, There’s Something I’ve Been Dying to Tell You is a brave and inspiring memoir which Lynda wrote while suffering from terminal bowel cancer. She was a gifted storyteller and while her book is at times heart-breaking, it is also full of humour and courage. The book has - as she intended - helped many people to talk about illness and death in a more honest way.
Coleen Nolan, Lynda's friend and Loose Woman co-presenter, said: "Lynda was known for her honesty and it is wonderful to see from the extraordinary Amazon reviews that her book is helping so many other people. This was her aim and why she spent her final months writing and promoting the book. Being at number one for three weeks is fantastic and I really hope she can remain in the top spot for Christmas. She would have loved that."
Gyles Brandreth, another of Lynda's close friends, said: "Lynda was brave, beautiful, brilliant, funny and fabulous. Her story is inspiring, profoundly moving and absolutely Lynda. She would have been thrilled beyond words to find that her book had become a number one bestseller. That's the equivalent of a standing ovation.”
There’s Something I’ve Been Dying to Tell You was published on 9 October by Coronet. It has sold to date over 150,000 copies in all formats.
