Joining us just a fortnight after the referendum on Scottish independence, Dumfries-born Kirsty started her career at BBC Scotland and she continues to live in joining Newsnight in 1993, where she is now the longest-serving presenter. She continues to live in Scotland and it is Arran where her acclaimed debut novel The Legacy of Elizabeth Pringle takes place.
