Cross Roads

What if you could go back and put things right?

By Wm Paul Young

  • Hardback
  • £17.99

The new novel from Wm Paul Young, author of international bestseller THE SHACK, is an inspiring and provocative story of a man who only realises how bad his life has been when it's too late - yet is miraculously given a chance to put things right. Will he take it?

Multi-millionaire Anthony Spencer is trapped in a coma and finds himself in a surreal world that reflects the skewed priorities of the life he's lived on earth where he meets a stranger who turns out to be Jesus and a grandmother who is the Holy Spirit.

Pleading for a second chance, he is sent back to earth to redeem himself. There he must fight to put right the mess he's created, experiencing events through others' eyes before deciding how to use the miraculous gift he's been given. Before his illness he had set events in motion that he now needs to undo - but will he have the courage to make the right choice?

THE SHACK is an international phenomenon, surpassing 1 million copies sold before being picked up by a mainstream publisher: its combination of radical spirituality with a heart-wrenching story made it a word-of-mouth hit, and CROSS ROADS has all the ingredients to repeat its impact.

Biographical Notes

Wm Paul Young was born in Canada but raised by his missionary parents among a stone age tribe in the highlands of what was New Guinea. He suffered great loss as a child and young adult, but now enjoys the 'wastefulness of grace' with his family in the US Pacific Northwest. This is his second book.

Songs My Grandma Sang

Bishop Michael B. Curry
Authors:
Bishop Michael B. Curry

In a conversation about his teaching and preaching style, Michael Curry noted with a laugh that hymns and songs of faith were always a part of the mix. "I learned what I believed in the songs I heard my family - especially my grandmother - sing. We sang our faith every day."Out of that strong foundation, Bishop Curry shares the music of his childhood - the songs that have grown with him to shape an adult and vibrant faith.

* One of the Amazon Editors' Best Books of 2018 *'Achingly relevant' - Grazia'Gorgeous and devastating' New York Times'An American Civil War epic [which] confirms Powers as a significant talent' - Andrew Motion, Observer'Contains moments that burn' Daily MailA stunning novel about violence, power and love by Kevin Powers, the acclaimed author of The Yellow Birds and winner of both the 2012 Guardian First Book Award and the Hemingway/PEN Award. A nighttime whipping in a lamplit barn.A ruined leg tossed onto a pile of discarded limbs. A hand snuffing out a desperate cry behind a bedroom's locked door.In A Shout in the Ruins, Kevin Powers returns to the battlefield and its aftermath, this time in his native Virginia, just before and during the Civil War and ninety years later. The novel pinpoints with unerring emotional depth the nature of random violence, the necessity of love and compassion, and the fragility and preciousness of life. It will endure as a stunning novel about what we leave behind, what a life is worth, what is said and unsaid, and the fact that ultimately what will survive of us is love.Written with the same emotional intensity, harrowing realism, and poetic precision that made The Yellow Birds one of the most celebrated novels of the past decade, A Shout in the Ruins cements Powers' place as one of the most important novelists of our time.'Beautifully formed sentences express unsettling truths about humanity, yet tendrils of hope emerge, showing how love and kindness can take root in seemingly barren earth.' - Sarah Johnson, Booklist
