How many have you read?
Our 12 Books of Christmas
10 December, 2015
Christmas is getting so close we can almost taste the mince pies and eggnog. Presents are being wrapped, trees adorned with sparkly things of various shapes and sizes and the Christmas jumpers are out in force. But what of our beloved bookshelves at this time of year? In all the chaos of Christmas planning, attention must still be paid. So the Hodder team have resorted to making up some silly rhyming jingles about our favourite books (of course).
If I was your Secret Santa . . .
30 November, 2015
Hands up who’s doing a Secret Santa this year? Isn’t it awkward when you get someone who you really can’t think of a good gift for? Being the bookish folk that we are we’ve all started daydreaming about what we’d get some of our favourite literary characters if we were their Secret Santa.
The History of Christmas
12 November, 2015
As the song says: ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go.’
Except it’s not is it? We’re into what feels like week 38 of Christmas fever and everywhere is covered in tinsel, glitter and reindeer. It’s like this already and it’s still only the middle of November. Let me say that again: the middle of November. Every year Christmas seems to get earlier and earlier and the constant reminders to buy presents become more and more tiresome.
Well we’re taking a stand!
Who would be your literary murderer?
29 October, 2015
We really don’t need to remind you that it’s Halloween on Saturday, so instead let’s get really creepy and morbid in honour of this most unholy of holidays and talk about how we might be killed, executed, slain, massacred, murdered, wiped out or in some such way essentially expired by characters in literature. No, really. We challenged the Hodder team to think about the most likely way they might meet their end if they were a character in literature themselves.
Seriously... this is some messed up stuff

Top Literary Holiday Destinations
01 October, 2015
It’s the end of the summer and we’re all back at work for the start of the new season – the desk-dreaming season. Having to pack up your suitcase and kiss goodbye to the beaches, only to head back to slightly grey English skies, can be a bit of a dampener on anyone’s mood. So we sit at our computer screens, contemplating our next getaway and sighing audibly as the rain lashes against the windowpanes. But what if you could holiday even as you sat at your desk? What if you could (literally) escape into the pages of your favourite novel? Here are some ideas for those perfect literary holidays.
